Healthy homes

HEALTH… the one thing we'll try to "sell" you on (but make no money from)

Your home will look beautiful - we want it to feel truly beautiful. Healthier-home design - air, water, light, materials - from invisible upgrades to wholesale building changes, never compromising the design. As passionate health advocates, guiding you towards taking your healthier-home upgrades as far as you do or don't want them is a huge thrill for us.

The reality of most homes

80%of U.S. buildings are estimated to have some level of mold
2–5×more pollution indoors than outdoors, on average
~90%of household dust contains pesticide residue linked to neurological issues

Every home we help bring to life will be lived in. Someone will drink that water. Someone's children will sleep in those bedrooms - we design around that.

If you want it, air filtration, water filtration, low-VOC finishes, EMF layout, and lighting choices get built in from the start, because construction quality is a health decision, not an upgrade tier. We can keep it as simple or take it as far as you want, from small, cost-effective yet impactful upgrades to wholesale six-figure changes.

A taste of some of what we love to build in

Water

  • Whole-home softener, double filtration, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap
  • Pool systems with UV purification or salt systems - fewer chemicals, less chlorine

Air quality

  • UV germicidal light built into the HVAC system
  • Fresh air intake with MERV 13+ filtration
  • Continuous air-quality monitoring thermostat

EMF

  • Hardwired ethernet ports at nightstands and desk areas
  • Kill switch and router guard box
  • Electrical panels positioned away from sleeping areas

Materials

  • Low-VOC flooring adhesive - or click-lock with no adhesive at all
  • Low-VOC paint throughout
  • Real wood trim, not MDF
  • Low-VOC certified insulation
  • A variety of wall systems chosen to resist water intrusion and make mold almost impossible

Light & windows

  • Low-flicker, circadian-friendly bulbs throughout
  • Optional upgrade to classic incandescent bulbs for maximum health benefits
  • Accent lighting designed to avoid overhead glare
  • Window placement optimized for natural light

Moisture

  • Greenboard in all wet areas
  • Moisture barrier on balconies
